The 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupé blends elegance, power, and technology for a premium driving experience. From its smart driving features to AMG-inspired performance, it’s far more than just a good-looking vehicle.
During a test drive of the 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupé, I noticed how advanced car technology has become. The Coupé communicates with the driver in intuitive ways. Its smart system alerted me about low fuel before I even left the parking lot. It instantly offered to find the nearest fuel station.
Two 4.5-inch digital displays support the driving experience. One sits behind the steering wheel, and the other rests in the center of the dashboard. Both screens provide vital driving and infotainment data. The seat adjustment system is also modern. Instead of levers, you use buttons on the door, next to the window and central lock controls. These buttons help you find a comfortable position effortlessly.
The Coupé offers seat memory for three drivers, a great feature if you share the vehicle. Even better, all seats are air-cooled, front and back. If the car sits in the sun, the remote key opens windows and the sunroof to release heat. That’s ideal for Uganda’s hot weather.
Once you start the car, the engine responds quietly and instantly. The 3.0-litre engine delivers 330 horsepower and can go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds. On the Northern Bypass, the Coupé accelerated to 50 km/h in three seconds. It’s quick, yet stable, demanding full attention from the driver. You can easily manage music and calls through the infotainment system using Bluetooth. With the heads-up display, speed and navigation data project onto the windscreen. This keeps your eyes on the road.
The central console is spacious and packed with features. From here, you can adjust ambient lighting and select between five driving modes—eco, comfort, sport, sport plus, and individual. When you choose sport mode, the car lowers its suspension for tighter road grip. The gear response also becomes sharper. While fun to drive, sport mode does use more fuel. Eco mode, in contrast, boosts fuel efficiency.
Each seating area has its own air vent. The dashboard holds four vents at the front. Two more sit behind the center console for the rear passengers. Unusually, the rear seats are air-cooled too, enhancing comfort for all occupants.
Under the hood, the E-Class Coupé shares an engine with the Mercedes-AMG 43. You can even tune it to reach up to 400 horsepower. The cabin also features original AMG leather seats, adding to the performance aesthetic. One clever detail is the adjustable seatbelt buckle. A push of a button brings it closer, so you don’t have to stretch.
For safety and visibility, the car’s 360-degree live camera gives a clear view of surroundings. It helps you park or drive through narrow streets with confidence.
Thanks to air-matic suspension, the Coupé adjusts its ground clearance with the push of a button. This makes it easier to navigate potholes and uneven roads. Whether you’re driving in the city or countryside, this feature adds serious value. Another standout feature is the lack of a B-pillar. When doors open, the cabin feels wider and more open. The dashboard is leather-wrapped with elegant black wooden trim, easy to clean and great to look at.
The only drawback is access to the back seats. You must recline the front seats forward, which is expected in a two-door coupé. However, this minor issue doesn’t outweigh the overall design and performance.
Maintenance is key to keeping the Coupé running smoothly. Richard Kakembo, a Germany-based mechanic, advises regular service using quality oil and parts. Stick to the schedule in the service manual. Don’t wait for the car to show problems.
In Uganda, Mujib Tusuubira, a local dealer, says the Coupé starts at Shs160 million. Some models go up to Shs250 million, depending on mileage, tuning, and features like AWD or AMG specs.
The 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupé offers luxury, advanced technology, and impressive performance in one sleek package. It suits drivers who want comfort and class without sacrificing power. If you’re ready to upgrade to a premium car, this Coupé delivers all the essentials—and then some.
