A tragic Arua road accident on Tuesday night claimed two lives and left one woman seriously injured at Awindiri Trading Center along the Arua–Nebbi Road. The crash, involving a truck and two motorcycles, occurred on 18th June 2025 at around 8:45 PM.
According to West Nile Region Police spokesperson SP Collins Asea, both motorcycles and the truck were heading from Nebbi toward Arua City when the incident unfolded. The collision happened as one motorcycle rider attempted to overtake the truck from the left side while carrying silver fish.
“One of the sacks hit the body of the truck, pulling the motorcycle and its two occupants under the truck’s wheels,” SP Asea stated.
Details of the Arua Road Accident
The impact resulted in the immediate death of the motorcycle rider and his passenger, both of whom remain unidentified at press time. The truck involved bore dual Congolese registration numbers CGO3918AC and CGO4033AC. One of the motorcycles was a Bajaj Boxer with plate number UFV725P, while the second, a Senke model, had no visible registration and was identified only by chassis number LGVSJP1O6PZ302245.
Survivor Identified and Treated
The only known survivor of the Arua road accident is 25-year-old Collet Anguparu, a resident of Wandi, Terego District. She was rushed to a nearby medical facility in serious condition and remains under observation.
Police confirmed that traffic officers responded quickly to the scene. They secured the area and transported the bodies of the deceased to Arua City Mortuary for a postmortem.
Ongoing Police Investigation
Authorities have placed the truck driver in custody to assist with the investigation. Meanwhile, the second motorcycle rider fled the scene and is currently at large. Police are urging the public to assist in locating the fleeing individual.
Both motorcycles and the truck were impounded and taken to Arua Central Police Station for further examination.
“The precise cause of the accident remains under investigation. However, we strongly caution all road users to avoid reckless overtaking and prioritize safety,” SP Asea advised.
The accident has been formally logged under reference numbers TSD 07/18/06/2025 and TAR:099/2025 at Arua City Central Police Station.
