Six youths who appeared in a viral homosexual video have been arrested by police in Kiira region.
The video depicts the youths engaging in explicit acts while others cheer them on in the background. The video has been widely circulated on WhatsApp in Jinja city, leading to a police investigation.
The suspects are being held at Jinja central police station and are facing charges of gross indecency and procuring gross indecency. The identities of the suspects have not been revealed. One of the suspects, who spoke anonymously, claims that the videos were recorded by middlemen who sold them to undisclosed pornography websites for between Shs 500,000 and Shs 5m.
He said that he and other youths were paid to participate in the videos but that most of them have since moved on to heterosexual marriage. The police spokesperson for Kiira region, James Mubi, stated that investigations are ongoing to prevent similar activities from occurring in vulnerable communities.
