Richard Byamukama, the Kyambura LC I Chairperson, says that they are going through hard times. He says that the tarpaulins that they were given to them have worn out and need replacement.

Victims of the Kyambura fire accident in Rubiri District have protested against the delayed compensation.

On August 18, 2019, a fuel tanker vehicle heading to Kasese overturned and burst into flames after its driver lost control at Kyambura trading centre in Kicwamba sub-county, Rubirizi district.

The fire exploded and burnt two taxis that were loading passengers at a nearby stage. It also burnt five buildings that were housing eight shops. A total of 26 people are believed to have perished in the fire.

While touring the accident scene, President Yoweri Museveni asked the owners of the truck to compensate the victims.

In January, the police started verifying victims of the accident with promises of compensation as the president had directed.
