“That is what the guidelines say, after getting the samples the suspects are left to go that is why we had to let them go,” he said on phone.
Dr Emmanuel Tugaineyo, the Mbale Hospital Director said he was not aware the victims had been released since they had designated the facility as an isolation centre.
Dr Tugaineyo said that they plan to turn the outpatient department into an isolation centre.
The facility has two wings with departments like the dental clinic that has been transferred to Masaba Wing, the surgical unit that now operates in the main hospital and the Joint Clinical Research Centre (JCRC) which will remain operating from within the premises.
It is currently undergoing refurbishment and renovation to suit the isolation centre requirements with plumbing and electrical installation works ongoing among other things.
