Councillors rejected the move saying Tondeka management should explain how the municipality will benefit from the project.
Councillors in Mukono Municipality have rejected the proposed partnership with Tondeka metropolitan bus company seeking to gazette bus stages along Kampala-Jinja highway.
The Deputy Mayor Jamadah Kajjoba moved a motion on behalf of the council’s executive seeking approval for the municipality to identify major stages within Ggoma and Central divisions to be used by the buses to pick and drop passengers.
About 980 commuter buses are expected from India to be used in the transportation of passengers and goods.
According to Kajjoba buses are expected to connect from Kampala to Mbalala, Mukono where land for a proposed bus park has been identified.
