President Museveni graced the thanksgiving ceremony organized by the Minister of Public Service (Muruuli Mukasa) together with the people of Nakasongola at Nakayonza Church of Uganda Primary School in Lwabiyata sub-county.

He called upon the people of Nakasongola who include; the Baruli and migrants from other parts of the country, to live in harmony and stop fighting and killing each other over land

Bellow is a quotation of his message;

“Love God with all your heart and might then you will know that every human being is created in God’s image. You have no right to hate any human being. You cannot say you love your culture and hate the other.

We supported the revival of the Buganda Kingdom when the Obote government banished it. According to him the Baganda were so proud and needed to be destroyed.

But we said no, let them operate as long as they are within the constitution, the same should be for Baruli and any other cultures.

Let every one of us enjoy their cultures because that is the beauty, that is what defines African heritage.

I am happy when I travel in this country and hear people speak their different languages. I want to go to Acholi and say Itye, go to Mbale and say Mulembe, cross to Busoga and say Kodheyo, run to Kasese and say Mwasibire.

I, therefore, appeal to all cultural leaders in the country to work together without creating divisions and tensions amongst our people.

Uganda is struggling with bigger problems already; we do not want to deal with the arrogance of cultural groups.”
