Rigathi Gachagua Declares 2027 Presidential Bid

Rigathi Gachagua 2027

KARATINA, Kenya – Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua 2027 campaign is now official after he declared his intention to contest for the presidency at a massive rally in Karatina Town. Addressing supporters, Gachagua promised to “liberate Kenya” and usher in an era of inclusive governance.

On X (formerly Twitter), Gachagua affirmed: “We shall liberate Kenya, no matter what! The year 2027 is the time; I am firmly in the Presidential race for a better Kenya where every Kenyan will participate in governance of their country.”

Thousands thronged the streets, cheering as he vowed to defend the interests of the Mount Kenya region and promised to stand with citizens “every step of the way.”

Rift with Ruto Deepens

Gachagua’s declaration escalates his long-running feud with President William Ruto. Once close allies, the two fell out over what insiders describe as competing political agendas and UDA power struggles. Gachagua has accused Ruto’s administration of sidelining central Kenya and abandoning the “bottom-up” economic model that won them the 2022 election.

Ruto’s allies dismiss these claims, arguing that Gachagua’s confrontational style weakened his role in government. Still, his supporters insist he was systematically undermined through rival factions and cabinet reshuffles.

Stakes High for 2027

Analysts warn that Rigathi Gachagua 2027 candidacy could split the UDA vote in Mount Kenya, a region critical to Ruto’s 2022 victory. Nairobi-based analyst Moses Kiberu Ndung’u noted that Gachagua is positioning himself as “the true defender of central Kenya’s interests,” potentially redrawing the political map.

With two years until the polls, Kenya faces a fierce contest as Gachagua and Ruto prepare for battle. Observers expect heated rallies, coalition deals, and intense maneuvering as both camps fight to consolidate support.

“God bless you, God bless Kenya,” Gachagua told supporters, signaling the official launch of a campaign that could become one of the most decisive presidential races in Kenya’s history.
