KAGADI, UGANDA: As schools reopened on Monday across the country, parents at Kasokero government-aided Primary school in Kyenzige town council Kagadi District blocked the Headteacher from accessing the school premises accusing him of incompetence.
The parents accused the newly transferred-in headteacher, Ms. Peace Tumwine, of being a drunkard and mismanagement of the school duties.
“They have taken our Headteacher who had improved the standards of our school and they have brought us Peace a drunkard, so we are going to sleep here until he is transferred”, said the angry parents.
The Kagadi District Education Officer rushed to the scene and asked parents to put the complaints in writing demanding the transfer of the Headteacher instead of causing chaos.
“In such concerns, always make phone calls or else the school management committee should report to the education office, and today am demanding a written document showing the reasons as to why you have blocked Tumwine”. Said the Kagadi DEO.
Meanwhile, Habib Mugisa, the Kyenzige town council Mayor asked parents to follow the right procedures when faced with such challenges.“This was not the right way to demand Tumine’s transfer, so in case of such challenges, always follow steps other than taking your own decisions”. Hon. Mugisa said.
