MASAKA | In a heartwarming display of community solidarity, Charles Gitta, the leader of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) mobilizing team in the Greater Masaka Region, along with other FDC leaders, organized a successful fundraising event. The event aimed to raise money and gather support for purchasing sanitary pads for young girls in schools, as well as providing medical support for the elderly and families in need.
Prominent political figures, including Dr. Kizza Besigye and Mugisha Muntu, were invited to be part of this significant event. Their presence and speeches inspired the attendees and highlighted the importance of community-driven initiatives.
During his speech, Dr. Kizza Besigye praised the tremendous support that young leaders are extending to their communities. He encouraged them to continue fighting for freedom in Uganda. Besigye also challenged the government to stop wasting taxpayers’ money and instead use it for the benefit of the people.
“It is inspiring to see young leaders taking such impactful steps to support their communities. The government should take note and redirect its resources to where they are truly needed,” said Dr. Besigye.
Mugisha Muntu, in his speech, urged the youth to take responsibility and increase pressure on the government. He emphasized the need for continuous challenges to hold the government accountable.
“It is a shame that people have to fundraise for things that the government should be providing with taxpayers’ money. The corruption in our government is unacceptable, and we must stand together to condemn it,” Mugisha Muntu stated.
The event successfully raised significant funds and support, which will be used to improve the lives of many in the Greater Masaka Region. The initiative to provide sanitary pads for young girls will help them stay in school, while the medical support for the elderly and needy families will ensure better health and well-being.
The fundraising event not only showcased the power of collective action but also served as a call to action for more Ugandans to get involved in community service and advocacy for better governance.
