The widow of Dedan Kimathi, a renowned Kenyan freedom fighter, has passed away. Mukami Kimathi died at a Nairobi hospital after developing breathing problems. Nyawira Kimathi, her daughter, confirmed the news and expressed the family’s grief.
Following her death, several leaders, including Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Governor Badilisha Kiarie, paid tribute to Mukami Kimathi. Gachagua described her as an inspiring figure and symbol of Kenya’s resilience, while Kiarie called for a state burial to honor her role in the fight for Kenyan independence and the rights of Mau Mau fighters.
Mau Mau fighters in Nyandarua also expressed their condolences and remembered Mukami Kimathi as a great fighter for the rights of Mau Mau fighters.
