Match fixing by players is being blamed for the poor run by Tooro United Football Club in the Uganda’s premier league.
The team has only collected 22 points from the last 25 games, which places it at the bottom of the table. The Club Head Coach, Muhammad Kiseka, says the club has been infiltrated by players involved in betting on their own games.

But Gilbert Muhumuza the club’s social media handler blames the team’s poor performance on lack of home grown players. He says a team that comprises players mainly from other regions will only play for the sake of money at the expense of Tooro’s pride.
Anthony Kasaija, a top fan blames club leaders for diverting the club from its values to politics and a money making venture. He cited an example how Tooro Province vanished in FUFA drum, saying the club ought to get back to its core values for its existence.
Margate Kihiika, the Kabarole District LC V Vice chairperson, said that as local leaders they are aware of the problems and promised to intervene and bring the team back to its glory. Tooro United has lost three consecutive games with the latest being a loss to Sports club Villa. The Forties lost 1-0 to SC villa.
This game meant Tooro united has only won 6 games and lost their third game in a row remaining last on table. Tooro united will now have to focus on finishing above the relegation zone.
