At least 250 Christians have missed Baptism in Kotido Catholic Diocese due to the ongoing Covid19 lockdown, which also affected Church activities.

Every year, Kotido Catholic Diocese baptises hundreds of new Christians on Easter Eve in a vigil mass celebrated at Good Sheppard Catholic Parish in Kotido town. However, the church has indefinitely postponed the baptism of 253 adult converts at the Good Sheppard’s Catholic Church.

The Baptism ceremony was scheduled to be held during the vigil mass that would be celebrated beginning from 8:00 pm. Fr. Samuel Lotuk, the Parish Priest Good Sheppard Cathedral Church said the baptism ceremony has been suspended until such a time when the church can conduct services including celebrating mass

Kotido Catholic Diocese comprises Kotido, Abim and Kaabong Parishes. Loyo, who had enrolled for baptism on Easter Eve vigil mass as Emmanuel, said they had already undergone the first stages of baptism.

He said they are looking forward to receiving the sacrament once the country returns to normality. “I am eager to get baptism, but we must wait until it’s the right time,” said Loyo on phone.
