Analysis of Ayatollah Khamenei’s Response to Desecration of the Holy Quran: Insights by Dr. Ali Akbar Ziai

Imam Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, has issued a notable message addressing the incident of the Holy Quran’s desecration in Sweden. He characterized the event as both bitter and dangerous, arising from a conspiracy. In response, he stressed the unanimous agreement among Islamic scholars regarding the most severe punishment suitable for the perpetrator behind this abhorrent act. Furthermore, Imam Khamenei urged the Swedish government to understand that supporting the individual responsible would amount to adopting an adversarial stance against the Islamic world. This, he cautioned, might provoke resentment and enmity from Muslim nations and a substantial portion of the international community.

The statement from the Leader of the Islamic Revolution reads:

In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Merciful

The reprehensible incident of desecrating the Holy Quran in Sweden has triggered profound concern due to its calculated and perilous nature. All Islamic scholars unequivocally endorse the imposition of the most severe penalty upon the individual found culpable for this egregious offense. The Swedish government must also acknowledge that its endorsement of the wrongdoer casts it against the collective interests of the Islamic world. This stance could potentially lead to fostering negative sentiments and animosity among Muslim nations, as well as a significant portion of the global populace.
