As per the Central Committee of Sudan Doctors, clashes in Sudan have resulted in at least 56 deaths and 595 injuries.
Following the clashes that broke out between the military and armed groups on Saturday, Sudan’s paramilitary chief, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, claims to have taken control of most of Khartoum’s official sites.
However, Sudan’s military leader, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, disputes Dagalo’s claims and says that the military continues to hold control over government sites. The clashes have been reported across Khartoum, including the presidential palace and the capital’s army headquarters.
The Sudanese army has accused the Rapid Support Forces of “traitorous plotting” and demanded their dissolution.
The UN Secretary-General and the African Union have urged all parties to find a political solution to the crisis and ensure the safety of civilians and UN personnel.
The Sudanese Army has requested civilians to stay indoors while warplanes conduct sweeps looking for the Rapid Support Forces.
