The Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) plays a vital role in enhancing capacities for mitigating, preparing for, and responding to both natural and human-induced disasters in Uganda.

Compassion Uganda’s team eagerly anticipates leveraging the expertise of the OPM to enhance their ability to address disasters affecting the vulnerable children they serve.

Emmanuel Ahimbisibwe, the National Director of Compassion International Uganda, emphasized the importance of strategic partnerships and networks for their organization. He highlighted the timeliness and significance of the partnership with the OPM in furthering their mission of alleviating poverty among children in Jesus’ name.

Ahimbisibwe mentioned, “We are collaborating with various partners, including the Office of the Prime Minister, to pool our efforts, resources, and strategies. Together, we aim to effectively mitigate the impact of disasters across the country.”

During the training’s closing ceremony, Rose Nakabugo, Assistant Commissioner in the Department of Disaster Preparedness at the Office of the Prime Minister, commended Compassion International for organizing the training session. Nakabugo highlighted the escalating intensity, severity, and frequency of disasters in Uganda, emphasizing the need for collective action and collaboration.

She stressed the importance of not only ensuring survival but also safeguarding the interests of future generations by addressing challenges collectively.

She concluded by advocating for a robust and enduring partnership between the OPM and Compassion International at all levels of disaster preparedness, highlighting the strength that such collaboration can bring in facing challenges head-on
