A fire incident occurred at a warehouse belonging to DAS Handling Ltd, a handling service provider located near the premises of Entebbe International Airport, on Tuesday, September 12, 2023. The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) confirmed the incident, stating that the affected building is situated outside the airport’s boundaries.
Upon the discovery of the fire, firefighting teams were promptly contacted and immediately responded to the scene. UCAA, in collaboration with relevant authorities, is actively working to suppress the fire. Simultaneously, investigations into the root cause of the incident are currently underway, as revealed in a statement issued by UCAA on behalf of DAS.

Warehouses belonging to both DAS Handlers Agency and the National Medical Store were significantly affected by the fire. Notably, National Medical Stores incurred losses of mosquito nets as a result of the incident. DAS Handling Ltd, operating as one of the ground handlers at the airport, maintains offices adjacent to the Protea Hotel, situated outside the airport’s perimeter fence.
