Mama Hawa Obama, the late Barrack Obama Snr’s (former US President Barack Obama’s father) sister, has died. Her son Razick Amuna confirmed her death at the age of 80.
He claims she died at his house shortly before 1 a.m. last night. Her funeral arrangements are still being made. In accordance with Muslim rites, she has been buried on today afternoon at her home in Kokal village, Oyugis. According to her family, she had been ill for more than two years after suffering a stroke.
She was admitted to Rachuonyo District Hospital for nine days after her condition worsened, and she was discharged about five days ago.
Her death comes eight months after that of the former US President’s paternal grandmother, Mama Sarah Onyango Obama.
