Gen Muhoozi Praised for Transforming the UPDF

Gen Muhoozi UPDF transformation efforts continue to earn high praise from top-ranking officers. On Monday, Maj Gen David Mugisha, commander of Uganda’s Special Forces Command (SFC), commended Chief of Defence Forces Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba for revitalizing the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF).

Speaking during a four-day ideological training symposium held at SFC headquarters in Entebbe, Mugisha noted improvements in combat readiness, training programs, military equipment, and troop welfare under Gen Muhoozi’s leadership.

“Through his guidance, we’ve seen steady progress in readiness, logistics, and morale across our ranks,” he said.

UPDF Leadership Rooted in Ideology

Running until June 19, the symposium aims to strengthen ideological commitment among soldiers. Mugisha emphasized that the reforms focus not only on firepower but on patriotism and loyalty to the national cause.

“A strong army is not built on weapons alone, but on conviction and unity of purpose,” he remarked.

He encouraged troops to reflect on their roles and recommit to the UPDF’s founding principles.

SFC Officers Aligned with Ideological Mission

Col Moses Musinguzi, Director of the Political Commissariat in SFC, said the symposium was designed to reinforce ideology, foster cooperation, and promote accountability. These values lie at the heart of the modernization program.

“This workshop should activate ideological renewal across SFC units,” Musinguzi noted.

He stressed the importance of teamwork and urged participants to develop solutions for modern challenges, including technological threats.

Career Development in a Modernized Force

Col John Mango Baraza, SFC’s Director of Human Resource Management, addressed career development and promotion procedures. He clarified that advancement in the UPDF follows structured guidelines based on merit and performance.

“We can’t all rise to the top at once. Rank comes with time, performance, and preparation,” Baraza said.

He encouraged officers to focus on growth through professional training and to remain patient and disciplined throughout their service.
