Jacob Kiplimo Shines in Marathon Debut at London 2025

Jacob Kiplimo’s marathon debut at the 2025 London Marathon was impressive. The half marathon world record holder from Uganda finished second with a time of 2:03:37. Kiplimo stayed with the lead pack for much of the race. However, Kenya’s Sabastian Sawe surged ahead in the final stages to win in 2:02:27. Kiplimo’s strong finish proved he is a serious contender for future marathons. Kenya’s Alexander Mutiso Munyao finished third in 2:04:20. Mahamed Mahamed was the top British finisher, placing ninth in 2:08:52. Olympic gold medalist Alex Yee finished 12th in 2:11:08. In the women’s race, Ethiopia’s Tigst Assefa set a new world record for a women’s-only marathon, finishing in 2:15:50. The 2025 London Marathon saw more than 56,000 runners, and electric crowds lined the streets, supporting runners of all levels. Kiplimo’s debut marks an exciting future for him in the marathon world.
