Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has arrived in the Republic of Serbia for an official two-day visit. The warm welcome at Nikola Tesla Airport-Belgrade was led by H.E. Ivica Dačić, Serbia’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, along with other dignitaries, including Uganda’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Henry Okello Oryem, and Ambassador Charles Ssentongo.
During the visit, President Museveni will lead a delegation of Government Officials and Private Sector Exporters to promote exports and investments. The highlight of the trip will be the opening of the Uganda Trade Hub “UGANDA CONNECT” in Belgrade, aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and boosting Uganda’s presence in the Balkans region.
The leaders of Uganda and Serbia will witness the signing of various memoranda for cooperation in sectors like agriculture, education, research, innovation, transport, logistics, and tourism. These agreements seek to enhance market access for Ugandan agricultural products, support sustainable agricultural practices, and foster collaboration in different areas.
President Museveni will address a business summit and visit an exhibition showcasing Ugandan products, emphasizing the potential for economic cooperation. A joint press briefing with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic is scheduled for Sunday to share the outcomes of their meetings.
The visit to Serbia holds significant importance as it aims to boost trade, investment, and bilateral ties between the two nations.
