Baine told Uganda Radio network that the promotions are part of the implementation of the new Prison structures, which has 6 directorates. Apparently, there are only four directors, which he says hinders service delivery in the prison force.
Uganda Prison Services-UPS has promoted 148 prison warders.
The promotions affect officers from the rank of Superintendent, Commissioner, Director, Assistant Commissioner, Senior Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent of Prisons.
The promotions were communicated in a statement issued by the Commissioner General of Uganda Prison Service, Dr. Johnson Byabashijja on Wednesday afternoon.
Frank Baine, the Uganda Prisons Spokespersons is one of the beneficiaries of the promotions.
He was together with three others including Hillary Bisanga, Gervase Tumuhimbise, and Judas Tadeo Kaliisa promoted to the rank of Commissioner of prisons.
