Mubende, Uganda – In a heartwarming development, the Mubende police have successfully rescued a 3-month-old baby boy who was allegedly kidnapped. The identity of the victim, along with the names of his parents, Magezi Aaron and Nakityo Rose, and their residence in Kikona Cell, Kirungi Ward, South Division, Mubende Municipality, Mubende District, are being kept confidential for security reasons.
The incident occurred on July 23, 2023, at approximately 10:30 AM when Nakityo Rose left her baby briefly unattended in their home to fetch water from a nearby stream. Upon her return, to her horror, she found that her precious child was missing. Without wasting any time, she immediately contacted her husband, who was at work, and together, they launched an extensive search for their beloved child, but their efforts were in vain.
Thankfully, the police task team was quickly alerted, and they sprang into action, initiating a thorough search operation. Despite combing through surrounding houses meticulously, there was no trace of the missing baby. However, crucial information provided by nearby children led the police to a person spotted carrying a child while wearing a cap.
Following this crucial lead, the dedicated officers traced the individual’s route and made an incredible discovery. The abandoned baby was found alive, hidden in the bushes near Nakatogo Vadesi’s shrine, approximately 200 meters away from the family’s home.
Rachael Kawala, the Wamala regional police spokesperson, praised the efforts of the police and said, “We have apprehended four suspects to assist in the case as part of our ongoing investigation. Our efforts to identify and apprehend any additional suspects are still underway. We strongly denounce this act of kidnapping and urge parents and guardians to be vigilant, avoiding leaving their children unattended. The safety and protection of our children are of utmost importance.”
The police have officially opened a case of child kidnapping and assure the public that their investigation is in full swing to ensure justice is served. In such distressing situations, community cooperation and support play a crucial role in aiding the authorities to apprehend the culprits and bring them to justice.
