The Electoral Commission sets date for nomination of candidates for election of Councillors Representing Workers to District Councils.

The Electoral Commission has appointed Tuesday 8th and Wednesday 9th May 2018, as the period for nomination of candidates for election of Councillors Representing Workers to District Councils.
The nomination shall be conducted at the respective District Headquarters, starting at 9:00am until 5:00pm on each of the appointed dates.

The  Electoral Commission sets date for nomination of candidates for election of  Councillors Representing Workers to District Councils.

Nomination Requirements
An aspiring candidate for Councillor Representing Workers to District Councils shall be a citizen of Uganda, a worker, and a registered voter, who is ordinarily resident in the District in which he/she seeks to stand.

The aspiring candidate will be required to observe the following:
The nomination documents of a candidate shall be submitted to the Returning Officer by the aspiring candidate himself or herself;
The nomination shall be supported by a proposer and seconder who are voting members of the respective Electoral College;
Payment of a non refundable nomination fee of Shs. 50,000/-, which may be paid in cash or bank draft to the respective District Council;
An aspiring candidate does not necessary need to be a member of the Electoral College;
Academic qualifications are not a pre-requisite for one to stand as a candidate for this election.

The following shall be attached to the nomination paper;
A statement under oath indicating the persons eligibility to stand;
A persons consent to his or her nomination for the office;
An appointment of official agent of the candidate, acceptance of appointment, and oath authenticating statement;
Two (2) postcard sized photographs of the candidates own straight face;
Evidence of being a worker in the case of aspiring candidate who is not a member of the electoral college

The nomination of candidates may be sponsored by a political organization or a political party or by a candidate standing as an independent candidate.

However, for avoidance of doubt, a worker who draws salary from a government institution or organisation cannot
