Uganda Prisons Head Byabashaija Vows To Crack Whip On Errant Kitalya Prison O.C

by December 29, 2021

The head of Uganda Prisons Service Johnson Byabashaija has intervened in the matter involving the deputy Officer in Charge (O.C) of Kitalya Prison, a one Okello, who is in trouble over allegations of preying on prisoners’ wives and relative.

Various media houses have for the past few days been awash with news of complaints being raised against O.C Robinson Okello by wives and relatives of some inmates, who fault him for pestering them for sex and money whenever they try to have access to their incarcerated loved ones.

The WhatsApp chats also indicate that he has been soliciting money from her such that she can be allowed to visit her husband in jail, which is not only unethical but also illegal.

Following the various complaints being raised against Okello, the matter has since attracted Byabashaija’s attention and according to his reaction, he is ready to crack the whip on the shameless prisons officer.

“Terribly unethical. He will pay dearly. Watch the space,” Byabashaija said on twitter shortly after reading the story.

Trouble for Okello started a few days ago after WhatsApp chats in which he was seducing a lady, names withheld on request, who is wife of one of the inmates at Kitalya Prison.

On top of seducing the lady and asking for her photos, the WhatsApp chats also indicate that he has been soliciting money from her such that she can be allowed to visit her husband in jail, which is not only unethical but also illegal.

As if that was not enough, the same Robinson Okello was cited in another incident, in which he is being accused by relatives of an inmate only identified as Malaika of harassing him because his mother refused to yield to his sexual advances.

Now after exposing his unbecoming and very unethical behaviour, we have established that Okello and his cronies have since started calling the witnesses with threats, assuring them to either back off the matter or suffer their wrath.
