The UNEB has unveiled sample papers outlining the structure of the CBA questions, marking a significant step in the preparation for the new examination format.
Jennifer Kalule Musamba, the spokesperson for UNEB, confirmed the availability of these sample papers, stressing their importance in familiarizing teachers and students with the CBA question format.
The sample papers can now be accessed through the UNEB portal by all UNEB Examination Centers.
To ensure widespread access, UNEB will also distribute hard-copy booklets of the sample papers to schools without center numbers. This inclusive approach aims to assist all schools in preparing for the new examination structure.
Kalule encouraged teachers to utilize the sample papers effectively to guide their students, suggesting that teachers create similar scenarios and questions based on the sample papers to expose learners to a variety of test items.
During a recent meeting involving UNEB and top management from the MoE, Dan Odongo, the UNEB Executive Director, reiterated the purpose of the sample materials. He emphasized that the sample papers are meant to guide schools on the new assessment formats for competency-based assessment.
Odongo clarified that while the sample papers provide insights into the assessment format, the actual scenarios in the final assessment will differ.
UNEB conducted a study last year using these sample papers, distributing them to students nationwide for evaluation.
In addition to the sample papers, UNEB will soon distribute Continuous Assessment data collection tools to schools.
These tools will facilitate regular assessment of learners, with their marks contributing 20 percent to the final marks at the end of O’Level.
