Police have arrested a suspect in an attempted aggravated robbery at the residence of former Kawempe South MP Mubarak Munyagwa. The incident, which occurred around 3:00 am on January 3, 2024, was swiftly responded to by the police, preventing the assailants from gaining access to Munyagwa’s home. Munyagwa, known for previous controversial incidents, reported the attack promptly. The security guard at the residence sustained a head injury, and despite heavy rain hindering K9 units, one suspect attempting to flee in a Datsun pick-up was apprehended. Contrary to social media posts, no shooting occurred, and the assailants were armed only with sharp objects. The arrested suspect is currently in custody, aiding ongoing police investigations. The incident follows a recent attack on city Pastor Aloysius Bugingo in a separate location.
