The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has postponed the TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN), originally set for 2024 in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, to August 2025.
While progress has been made in upgrading stadiums, training facilities, and other key infrastructure, CAF’s Technical and Infrastructure experts recommended more time to meet the necessary standards for hosting the event.
CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe praised the efforts of President William Ruto (Kenya), President Samia Suluhu Hassan (Tanzania), and President Yoweri Museveni (Uganda) for their commitment to improving football infrastructure. He expressed confidence that all facilities will meet CAF standards by 2025, ensuring a successful tournament.
The postponement underscores CAF’s dedication to hosting a world-class event while promoting football development in Africa.
