Five Arrested for Abducting 60-Year-Old Man in Amuru

The victims were abducted on Monday night by unknown people who were armed with sharp and lethal objects.

Police in Amuru District has arrested five suspects for allegedly abducting five people from the same family.

The abductees include a 60-year-old man, Wilson Kinya and his four sons namely; Tolbert Mwaka, 30; Aron Oringa, 27; Simon Omony, 20 and Simon Komakech aged 18 – all residents of Giragira Parish in Lamogi Sub-County.

The victims were abducted on Monday night by unknown people who were armed with sharp and lethal objects.

According to police preliminary investigations, the gang members were led by Richard Okello and his accomplice only identified as Dwala, who are both still at large.

Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson, ASP Jimmy Patrick Okema confirmed the incident saying the police was notified in time and immediately launched an operation and arrested five suspects and rescued the four brothers, but their father is still missing. 

 Those in custody include Christopher Kolorach, 49; Sunday Oloya, 37; James Otura, 45; and 25-year-old David Ocaya – all of whom are being held at Amuru Central Police Station pending further investigations.  

Okema further intimated that security personnel from Amuru CPS commanded by District Police Commander – DPC, Emmanuel Bwambale reinforced by a team from Paboo Police Station have been hunting for the missing elderly man but to avail.
