The Chief of Defence Forces, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, delivered a compelling discourse on the principles of servant leadership to officer cadets at an enlightening session held at the Basic Military Training School in Kaweweta, Nakaseke District,
General Kainerugaba, who also serves as the Senior Presidential Advisor – Special Operations, underscored the profound impact of servant leadership within the military, urging cadets to exemplify this approach through their actions and behaviors.
Acknowledging the influential role of leadership behavior, General Kainerugaba emphasized, “Human beings are inspired by your actions,” highlighting the importance of setting a positive example for subordinates.
During his address, he offered valuable insights into the characteristics of a servant leader, emphasizing traits such as empathy, humility, and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by troops under their command.
Furthermore, General Kainerugaba urged cadets to prioritize the well-being of their subordinates, emphasizing the importance of providing steadfast support, especially during difficult circumstances.
In promoting a culture of continuous improvement, he encouraged cadets to embrace humility and a willingness to learn from their mistakes and from others. “Leadership is not about being perfect. It is about continuous growth,” reiterated General Kainerugaba, highlighting the evolutionary nature of effective leadership.
The lecture, which attracted key dignitaries including the Commandant of the Basic Military Training School, Brigadier General Bonny Geoffrey Wolimbwa, along with senior officers and instructors, served as a significant milestone in fostering a culture of servant leadership within the military training establishment.
