Museveni Opens Bukedea Teaching Hospital, Lauds Among for Innovativeness


President Yoweri Museveni praised Speaker Anita Among for her active, developmental, and innovative leadership during the opening of Bukedea Teaching Hospital. The hospital, constructed by Speaker Among, aims to provide quality and affordable healthcare to the people of Teso and nearby districts.

Museveni congratulated Speaker Among for her proactive efforts in assisting her community, highlighting her construction projects including the school, hospital, and school of nursing and paramedical studies.

He commended Among for her innovative and attentive approach, noting her strategic planning in establishing institutions that cater to essential needs such as education and healthcare.

Moreover, Museveni acknowledged the positive impact Speaker Among has had on the region, transforming the land she was allocated into valuable assets like the school and hospital.

During the event, Museveni also inaugurated Bukedea College of Health Science, another educational institution owned by Speaker Among that provides professional health training to paramedical students.

Speaker Among expressed gratitude to President Museveni for the financial support that facilitated the construction of the hospital.

The journey towards establishing Bukedea Teaching Hospital began in 2017 when President Museveni laid the foundation stone and allocated land for the project, which was previously underdeveloped. Construction progressed until January 2024, when the hospital commenced operations.

Since its opening, Bukedea Teaching Hospital has served over 2,000 patients, showcasing its immediate impact on providing healthcare services to the community.
