Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga says that Kasumba was arrested for engaging in subversive activities, charges which he says are not related to his work as a journalist. He, however, declined to divulge details on the particulars of the offence.
NBS Television journalist, Samson Kasumba is in detention for allegedly engaging in subversive activities.
He was picked up from the Kamwokya based Media Plaza, the home of Next Media on Monday night after airing the 9 p.m. news bulletin. His workmate Sheila Nduhukire said that Kasumba was subsequently taken at Kiira Road Police Station where he spent a night.

Enanga says Kasumba has been interrogated and is cooperating well with detectives from the election and political offences desk, who this morning carried out a search at his home.
