At least 14 senior four students and their colleagues from  Senior one were rushed to Kakuuto Health Center IV on Thursday when they became unconscious shortly after having lunch.

The victims, according to health workers, presented with signs akin to persons that had taken poison.

Dr. Edward Muwanga, the Kyotera District Health Officer, explains that the students presented with nausea, severe vomiting and diarrhea as well as stomach upset.

He reveals that medical examinations established that the students were indeed intoxicated with high concentrates of organophosphates.

Although, the students have been discharged from hospital, Maj. David Matovu, the Kyotera Resident District Commissioner has ordered for investigations into circumstances how poisoned food found its way to the school.

He is suspicious that the school administration could have failed on their role of safeguarding students, which gave an opportunity to ill motive people to harm the students.

Matovu says that the school administration claims that the victims consumed unsafe food from their colleague; security finds the explanation wanting, which necessitates broader investigations into the incident.
