President Yoweri Museveni has advised young people to wait until they are 22 or 23 years old before engaging in sexual activity. His comments were made during the Inter-Religious Family Festival at Kololo Independence Ceremonial Grounds in Kampala.
“I encourage young people to get married at 22 or 23. This way, you can establish a family and plan effectively. Then, you can enjoy a healthy and fulfilling sex life for many years,” Museveni stated.
In his speech, the President emphasized that waiting until the age of 22 or 23 to start a family can lead to a more satisfying and healthier sex life that could extend well into later years. He pointed out the risks associated with early sexual activity, such as contracting HIV/AIDS, which can lead to lifelong health problems and misery.
“Imagine being patient and starting at 23. By the time you’re 90, you would have enjoyed a long and healthy life. Starting at 14, however, can expose you to diseases like HIV/AIDS, leading to a lifetime of problems,” Museveni warned.
Accompanied by First Lady Janet Museveni, the President also expressed gratitude to the Global Peace Foundation of Dr. Moon for organizing the event in Uganda.
Museveni highlighted the importance of wealth creation for family prosperity, likening a family without wealth to “a ship without a compass.” He encouraged Ugandans to embrace traditional African family values, such as fearing God, caring for family members, creating wealth, producing and nurturing children, respecting and obeying parents, and prioritizing education. He also urged the incorporation of beneficial aspects of modern religions to enrich societal values.
The festival, organized by the Global Peace Foundation under the theme “Celebrating Family, Faith, and Freedom: One Family under God for Africa Renaissance,” saw the attendance of several religious leaders and dignitaries from various faiths across the country.
