KAMPALA | The sports community in Uganda is buzzing with the news that Rogers Mulindwa, a distinguished FUFA Executive member, has been named the chairperson of the management committee for Hamz/Nakivubo War Memorial Stadium. This announcement was made by the stadium’s owner, Ham Kiggundu, who expressed confidence in Mulindwa’s ability to lead.
Kiggundu, speaking to the media, emphasized the importance of Mulindwa’s role in driving the stadium’s growth and financial stability. “We expect Mr. Rogers Mulindwa to guide the stadium to further growth and ensure that the facility generates income for its sustainability. I am confident that Mr. Mulindwa will lead us to our desired goals and I will provide him with all the support he needs,” Kiggundu said.
Mulindwa, who played a key role as the chairperson of the organizing committee during the stadium’s grand opening on June 1, 2024, expressed his gratitude for the new appointment. “I am so grateful to Hamis Kiggundu for entrusting me with this responsibility. This isn’t a full-time role, but I am committed to giving it my best and working towards continuous improvement of the facility,” Mulindwa stated.
Highlighting the strategic location of the stadium and its potential for various sports activities, Mulindwa concluded, “This stadium is strategically located, and we will ensure it is utilized properly to avoid disappointing the private developer and investor.”
The Hamz Stadium is more than just a football ground; it includes facilities for basketball, netball, boxing, and kickboxing. Mulindwa’s appointment is seen as a crucial step in maximizing the stadium’s potential and enhancing its status as a premier sports venue in Uganda.
