The dead were identified as Peter Lujja, 27, his children Edrine Kavuma, 7, and two-year-old Susan Nalujja. The wife who was found in a critical state has been identified as Mary Nanyombi.
Three family members have been found dead and another in critical state at Kabakazi village in Nakasongola district. The dead were identified as Peter Lujja, 27, his children Edrine Kavuma, 7, and two-year-old Susan Nalujja.
Their bodies were found in a tent at the farm where they have been sleeping for a month since they were recruited by one Stephen Kabwende at Kabakazi village in Kakooge Sub County in Nakasongola district.
Kabwende explains that at around 10; 00 am on Wednesday, he received information from another casual worker that he had found the three dead and the wife unconscious and Kabwende says that they immediately notified Police to come and transfer the woman to the health centre before commencing investigations in the matter.
Kabwende added that although the Policemen came, these had no transport means to either transfer the patient or the dead bodies.
He narrates that a resident transferred the unconscious wife on motorbike, whereas others carried dead bodies on shoulders before reaching Kampala-Gulu highway where they got a car to transport them to Nakasongola Health Center IV. The wife who was found in a critical state has been identified as Mary Nanyombi aged 23 years.
Kabwende says the wife had foam in the mouth which pointed to suspected poisoning but they are waiting for postmortem to establish the cause. The wife Mary Nanyombi is admitted at Nakasongola Health Center IV in a critical state.
By the time of compiling the story Isah Ssemwogerere, the Savannah Regional Police Spokesperson said Police was still investigating the matter and asked for more time to gather the details.
