A 58-year-old woman has succumbed to injuries sustained during a domestic brawl with her family members. Sylvia Achola, a resident of Agengere village, in Amolatar district died on Saturday from Lira Regional Referral Hospital where she was rushed for medical attention.
Reports indicate that on Friday morning, Achola’s two sons; Innocent Morris Ongol had a quarrel with his brother Dick Opio at their home. It is alleged that while trying to intervene, Ongol hit his mother on the head first, with a broken pot and thereafter with a firewood fragment.
She was immediately rushed to Amai Community Hospital and later referred to Lira Regional Referral Hospital where she died.
Patrick Ogwang, a local who hinted that there is an increase in crime among members of the community, appealed to the government to offer psycho-social support to the citizens especially at this time when many people are idle at home.
Julius Martin Onguu, the community Liaison Officer at Amolatar Central Police Station cautions people against using this coronavirus season to create more problems among communities. He says police will ensure that those who fall on the wrong side will face its wrath.
The deceased’s body has been taken back to Amolatar. The two boys have been arrested and detained at Acengryeny police post before transferring them to Amolatar CPS.
