Police in Kampala is holding a prominent city witch doctor that has been backing up most motor vehicle robberies and murders in Kampala and surrounding areas of Nansana, Wakiso, Mukono, Entebbe, Ntinda among others, Spyreports has learnt.
The witch doctor has been identified as Mwangye Lameck a resident of Buyala along Mityana road. He has been arrested together with seven others who include Kalyango Brifin, Nakayizi Lydia, Mwanje Najib, Kibarama Ronald,Salemba Samuel and Lukwago Shafiq.
Police spokesperson Fred Enanga told spyreports yesterday that police received information about the stolen vehicle registration Number UBE 031K Toyota premo. He added that police trailed the vehicle using Geographical Position Station (GPS) and it was found at Witchcraft’s home in Buyala.
“After finding the vehicle at his home, he was arrested and his home searched. Police also recovered other stolen items like TVS, mattresses, radios and other house breaking equipments,” said Enanga adding that they also recovered another Ipsum car registration number UAW 726E.
Police spokesperson says upon interrogations, the witch doctor revealed how he has been backing most of the car robberies in Kampala and mentioned the group he has been robbing with. “They have been robbing cars in Kampala and dismantling them was done at his home in Buyala and spare parts sold to different shops in Kampala,”Enanga says
NANSANA ON SPOT
Police say Nansana has been on spotlight as the criminal herb in Kampala. “All the robberies and murders in Kampala begin from Nansana and end in Nansana,” says Enanga adding that the witch doctor has been planning his robberies in Nansana.
He says that even criminal gangs have their bases in Nansana. “Most of the robbers we arrest have homes in Nansana or after robbing hide in Nansana,” added Enanga. He further says that police is now heavily deployed in Nansana to make sure the area is cleaned up.
It is also remembered that in 2017 Women killings started in Nansana and the former Inspector General of Police Gen. Kale Kayihura camped in Nansana for close to three months to make sure the killings stopped but failed to clean up the area. Kayihura also deployed more than 2000 police officers and crime preventers in Nansana to curb the crime but all in vain. Even one of the reasons why he was sacked was to failure to curb down crime in Nansana.
Police also made Nansana a police Divison to reduce on crime rates but nothing has changed. Police statistics show that Nansana has high crime rates than other areas in Kampala.
